Details
Southport Center is a newly rapidly growing development right next to Interstate 80. The project will consist of two buildings containing more than 22,000 square feet of leaseable space and a plaza area available for outside dining and entertainment.
Surrounding Area
Southport Center is located in the Omaha suburb of La Vista, one of the fastest growing municipalities in the state of
Nebraska. La Vista is part of Sarpy County, Nebraska's fastest growing county. The 237-acre Southport development area is located at the entrance to La Vista along Giles Road, known as the "Gateway Corridor."
The eight-county Omaha Metropolitan Statistical Area had a 2009 population of 838,875. The City of Omaha's population is 379,772. Omaha is a great place for business with a strong economy, low cost of living and a highly skilled workforce. Five Fortune 500 companies are headquartered in the city. The population within a 60-mile radius of downtown Omaha exceeds 1.2 million.
The I-80 corridor through La Vista and the rest of Sarpy County is growing rapidly. In addition to a large number of new roof tops in the surrounding area, the I-80 corridor is where much of Omaha's growth is taking place. In the past few years, several jobs have been added along the booming corridor, which will provide Southport East businesses with a steady supply of customers. The 100-acre Southport East development, which includes Southport Center, has several growing businesses including PayPal, Inc. (over 2,600 employees), 116-room Hampton Inn, and Securities America's three-story, 87,000 sq. ft. headquarters. Directly adjacent to Southport East, the Southport West development includes a 128,000 square foot Cabela's Super Store, an Embassy Suites with attached convention center and a Courtyard by Marriot among other planned projects.
Traffic Counts (I-80)
According to Metropolitan Area Planning Agency, more than 25,600 cars passed by on 126th Street each day in 2009. Approximately 98,400 cars per day pass by on the adjacent Interstate 80, a six-lane, urban freeway. These numbers are very likely to grow now that development in the area is accelerating.
Zoning
Southport East's zoning is "Highway Commercial" (C-3) by the City of La Vista.
